  Case in point: this delightful something or other from the Gilded Unicorn in Spokane, Washington. It’s nice to hang out a bar, have the ‘tender take care of you, and not have to stumble back to the hotel with a pounding headache.

• The most recent If Books Could Kill podcast is about Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus and hoooo, boy. There is some shit in there. If you are short on time, the last 15 minutes are where the rebuttals to the book are and they are more than worth the time, if only because you will learn about “Tactical Misunderstanding,”² which I used to teach when I communications.

• I don’t really have much to say about Madoff: the Monster of Wall Street other than a) it’s a very well-made doc that takes some chances when it comes to telling this story that we already know the outlines of³ and b) all of the regulatory agencies and J.P. Morgan banks were complicit and all of those motherfuckers should be in jail.

3. by “we” I mean “me.” I followed the story closely because I consider con men my beat and was still surprised.
