Scott, my husband of 28 years, and I just returned from a trip to Iceland. Why Iceland? Why not Iceland? It’s only a five-six hour flight from the upper east coast and is, as it turns out, absolutely amazing. As Scott pointed out, it’s a hard place to call beautiful, because that word doesn’t quite work for a landscape that a) changes by the moment and b) keeps getting transformed by glaciers, lava, geysers, and earthquakes. It is striking. It is alien and fascinating. But most of it is not beautiful.
Thanks, Adrienne. “Visit Iceland” was exactly nowhere on my bucket list. And I’m going to have to spend 4.5 weeks, or maybe months, there to do and see what you and Scott did in 4.5 days.
Iceland is a very beautiful place. I work with a bunch of professors and students who get to spend every summer there studying the volcanos and other geologically interesting things! I am always amazed with the breath-taking photos they share (from perched on the side of a smoking volcano of course!).
I love this travel log! I love what you share with us about all your trip & so far you’ve made me want to go everywhere you go. No, I don’t think I’m stalking you.

I got my husband in Argentina.
THAT SIGN. I love that, after they warn about the water temperature, they tell you the nearest hospital is 62 km away. Because, y'know, just sayin'.
